Seven Decades of Engineering Heritage
CEMO Pumps' story is rooted in more than seven decades of South African engineering and manufacturing expertise. Our engineering heritage dates back to 1951, when Mr J. Crown established his first engineering company. In 1957, the business evolved into the Crown Group of Companies (Pty) Ltd, laying the foundation for what would become CEMO Pumps.
From these early beginnings, CEMO has grown into an internationally recognised manufacturer and exporter of engineered pumping solutions, supplying customers across Africa and international markets spanning Australia, South East Asia, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Built on Manufacturing Expertise
Over the decades, CEMO has developed extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities. Our Johannesburg facility, spanning more than 16,000 m², brings together machine shops, fabrication and assembly areas, a foundry, stores and dedicated pump testing facilities.
Our manufacturing capabilities include CNC machining centres and lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, conventional machining, drilling, milling and gear-cutting equipment. This depth of capability enables CEMO to maintain control over critical stages of production—from design and engineering through machining, manufacturing, assembly and testing.
This vertically integrated approach gives us the ability to develop and manufacture pumps and spares in-house, supporting consistent quality, competitive pricing and realistic delivery times.
Engineering for the Future
CEMO's continued investment in engineering, technology and specialised manufacturing has driven the development of a comprehensive range of pump solutions. These include helical rotor (progressive cavity) pumps, multistage mine dewatering centrifugal pumps, high-pressure plunger pumps and mud pumps, carrying the CEMO or CROWN brand.
Our dedicated engineering and technical teams continue to support the development of existing products, the creation of new solutions and the delivery of custom-built pumping systems designed around specific customer requirements.
With a team of approximately 150 employees, including skilled artisans, engineers and technical specialists, CEMO combines generations of practical manufacturing knowledge with modern engineering expertise.
Quality, Innovation and Reliability
Quality has remained central to CEMO's philosophy throughout its history. Our commitment to controlled manufacturing processes, approved raw-material suppliers and continuous product development is supported by ISO 9001:2015 certification.
More than seven decades later, the principles that shaped CEMO remain at the heart of the business: Engineering excellence, manufacturing expertise, innovation and dependable customer support.
From our South African roots to customers around the world, CEMO Pumps continues to build on its heritage while looking firmly toward the future.
